Vintage Clothes- The Best Ones Revealed!

Recently, men’s vintage clothing has gained much popularity. This is attributed to the timeless nature of most of the vintage qualities and items. This timeless nature includes the craftsmanship and detail used in vintage clothes production. Kate Moss, Julia Roberts and Dita Von Teese are some of the celebrities that have added to the increased popularity if vintage clothes.

There is always a specific vintage piece or style that is unique to a particular decade or era. This may be one of the major attractions of vintage clothing. With the passage of a decade the best pieces are preserved while the worst pieces fall by the wayside. This is analogous to the natural selection in that its always the lovely (fittest) clothes that survive.

The clothe articles considered by several men’s vintage clothing dealers as vintage include pieces from the 1920’s to 1970’s as well as some from the eighties. Some clothing will become vintage soon after its productions and these are clothing from particular iconic designers.

When we talk of the twenties, what comes to mind are images of beaded flapper dresses. This style is important for this decade because it is the symbol of the girl who embraced shorter dresses and attended jazz dances and danced the night away. Another major style in the twenties were the silhouettes. During this decade the most influential designer was Coco Chanel and his influence is still felt in this era.

In the thirties and forties, the fashion world was dominated by pieces that depicted the economic depression, rationing and war. The significant pieces were classic styles and military inspired men’s vintage clothing. The Dior New Look and wasp waste were very popular in the fifties but actually began in the forties.

Dior New Look, denim jeans, circle skirts and Chanel boxy jackets and suits are the key styles of the fifties that have gained popularity. These styles depict fun and young styles and were inspired by the end of the rationing and war.

As for the sixties the significant men’s vintage clothing pieces are the ones that bring to the mind the swinging sixties and the images of Carnaby Street, May quant and Pucci psychedelic prints, miniskirts and Mod dresses. The seventies saw the birth of the disco outfits, flares and hippy style.

Looking at the fashion trend of this decade, trying to figure out which current style and fashion will survive the natural selection and be crowned vintage in the forth coming years, is very fascinating.
